In order to celebrate different cultures across the globe and to extend pupils understanding of the wider world, we held an ‘International Week’ during the summer term. This followed the success of our International week the previous year.
With the entire school involved, each class adopted a country for that week, where pupils enjoyed a variety of cross-curricular activities based on their country. These included traditional art, learning a language, cultural dancing, measuring distances, working out time zones, writing travel brochures, traditional music and food tasting to name just a few.
The week concluded with a ‘Travel around the World’ day, where pupils dressed in traditional costume from their country or in colours of the flag. Armed with their passport, they visited each other’s classes to participate in a wide variety of activities. All in all it was an exciting, fun-filled week!
The photos below give a flavour of our week.
