Our School History
The school was originally built in 1898 as an all boys' boarding school. From 1940 to 1958 it was a Senior Boys school, until in 1958 it became a Junior Mixed School (ages 7-11years) for children in Littlehampton and the surrounding area.
In 2011, Connaught Junior School amalgamated with two nearby infant schools, Arun Vale and Elm Grove, to become River Beach Primary School.
In 2013 River Beach Primary relinquished local authority control from West Sussex County Council and converted to academy status, joining Schoolsworks Academy Trust. This now enables the school to work and collaborate with a group of like minded school leaders to actively encourage and celebrate the school’s individuality and personality respecting our distinctive community.
