Starting Nursery - September 2020
Starting Nursery in September 2020
If you are a new parent or carer to our nursery– WELCOME! We hope that you and your child will enjoy being part of the River Beach community. We want to work closely with you during your child's time in Pebble Class.
For many of you this may be your child’s first experience of being away from home and your first time of leaving them. We appreciate that you may be anxious about this and we are here to support you with this.
Our staff have plenty of experience to help support your child’s transition from home to Pebble Class. Some children find it difficult to settle into nursery at the beginning of sessions, particularly when they are new. This is perfectly normal so try not to worry about this. We will always ring you if there is a problem and use the Tapestry app to send you updates.
We provide a rich, well resourced learning environment, both indoors and out, making full use of the school grounds and facilities. Children learn through a mixture of play based and adult led activities, across the curriculum and no two days are ever the same! The nursery is run by a specialist qualified teacher and an experienced early years team, who support children in their learning and maintain close links with parents to ensure excellent progress. The nursery takes children from the start of the term in which they turn three years old.
Below is a presentation for new starters. It gives you lots of useful information about our Nursery and what to expect.
Once your child has settled, they will be allocated a key worker. Your child's key worker will support your child in their learning and development, building a special relationship with them and taking responsibility for their welfare. They also will observe your child's progress and plan for their next steps. You will be given the opportunity to meet with your child's key worker each term to share information. Please do talk to your child's key worker or another member of staff about any worries or concerns you have; we are always happy to help.
Our first day of Nursery is a stay and play session where you will have time to speak with the Nursery team about your child’s needs.
We look forward to welcoming you to our Nursery family in September.
